There are many symptoms of a misalignment of your software and your requirements, some obvious, some less so.
Here some typical examples.
- The customer reference number in your accounts system is different from the reference in your ERP system
- VAT in your order management system is rounded downwards and in your accounts system it is rounded upwards
- Orders entered on your website have to be entered manually in your order management system
- Your most valued client wants a spreadsheet with work-in-progress information once a week
- Direct debit instructions are issued by your accounts department for clients whom have cancelled their contract
- You accept orders by email but feel that many opportunities are hidden in peoples personal inboxes
